Good news they do in fact all but adopt him into the family. Ilya’s parents even told the Karhan he can just consider them his family and even come live with them if he wants. They love him as their future son-in-law. He is better upgrade from Richard.
Also it was Karhan who had saved Ilya from drowning. Richard took credit only because Ilya saw him when she woke up and Richard just happen to find Ilya after was rescued from the water.
