I believe this story is written by a man though. I don’t know about other bl but I don’t as a queer cis woman I don’t understand the obsession with non-consent and making the bottoms beg for the top to slow down or stop and the top ignoring them. Even if it’s not technically rape this happens in so many bls. Everytime I’ve asked a man to slow down or stop he’s listened so I really don’t get this :/ it ruins a lot of bls with genuinely good storylines
He is in fact male he has a twitter named JAXX.
Even though I completely agree with the fact that many yaoi fetishize rape (and so many many more disturbing themes..) and it’s so bothersome.. But I don’t think that this fetishized the moment.. one of them was completely drugged and out of his head and the whole moment was pitiful and sad. It’s not portrayed as normal and Matt was drugged without even knowing it. So they were both victims. The whole story is supposed to be depicting heavy topics like these (of people getting drugged, killed etc..) so yeah I don’t think anything is depicted as romantic. I just hope that there will not be any su**ide or mcd.. it’s not uncommon in these stories.
It's not fetishism, it's what kind of relationship role model is imposed on women. Masses of women live with rape normalization and constant objectification, and the reason for that is men and their domination. Hetero relationships are built on romanticizing power imbalances, men rape women, so women relegate the experience to homosexual relationships. In reality though, rape is only normalized to the female side, so they give the fate of the humiliated to the one in the receiving position. If this surprises you, look at the world around you. At the mass art, the porn culture, the social imbalance.
Yeah honestly I genuinely think there was no need for Jin to get sexually assaulted in this story. Some people are using the excuse of plot but like there are so many other ways the reveal of Jin remembering Matthew. And even though it was never a fluffy store, these scenes were gratuitous and it felt like the author put them in to appeal to fetishist more than anything. Jin is a physically and mentally strong character so it didn’t even make sense for him to allow himself to be forcefully assaulted like this smh.
But in this case you fail to see that Matt was also a victim and he is not intentionally abusing Jin.. don’t paint him as an abuser out of nowhere..
and even if they end up together Matt is not an abuser, everything that he did was done when he was drugged against his will, he is not even a drug addict or alcoholic. He was forcefully drugged and a victim.
and I’ve read at least two mafia tropes that end with suicide and mcd. there was a really popular one that the cover had two guys on the beach at night. It was heartbreaking.
It’s a mafia trope it will have death and pain. If you can’t cope with depressing tropes then this isn’t for you.
There are books/movies that are thrillers, horror or disturbing and it’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to analyze the psychological aspects and depth of the characters it’s better to read softer stories. And it’s totally fine!
But this one is not just to spend your time enjoyably. Both main characters are going through a lot and have been victims. It has sex but the story is not just sex, it’s really heavy on plot and character development.
I've never been gay raped in my whole gay life.
And usually gay rape is from men that claim to be straight.
I'm so tired of women normalizing rape in gay relationships, just cause we're men.
Like, I'm sorry most of you're cishetero relationships involve nonconsent, but don't project it onto us.
