I thought the same until I saw just how much the seme suffered (I loved it, so deserved) and the revenge he took on behalf of the uke. It gave me closure and I was satisfied with the ending since character development is important for a redemption arc. In today’s reality nothing would redeem him. But in this time period, this is exactly how I’d expect royalty to act and I’m pleased the author gave us the “torture leads to redemption” ending because the uke deserves a happy ending and to have the seme experience what he experienced.
No redemption can wash away the abuses of crown prince to the MC I just want him to run away to the people who hurt him, live in peace with the general, and f*** that sister, father and cp ya'll go to hell
