Yup that part was cut out in the manhwa. In the novel, before meeting Karlyle, Ash was “dating” with Nick. He had a crush on Nick but then later decided to step out because he found out that Nick’s true love is Kyle. Even though they went on a “date”, all Nick had in his mind was Kyle and he didn’t have any feelings for Ash so Ash and Nick are not ex-lovers. About the “first” meeting Ash mentioned, it was when him and Nick was at a restaurant and Karlyle caught them, mistaken that Nick was having an affair behind Kyle’s back so Karlyle was offended and scolded Nick in front of Ash. Ash didn’t like that arrogant and rude attitude of Karlyle so he had a “first” bad impression on Karlyle. Hmmm hope my explanation makes sense to you

It was after the kiss because he brings up how ash doesn't remember their real first meeting (the kiss) and only remembers the bad one
