Yeah, the reason was a little too off for me... but she's still crazy tho'!
What I don't understand is the fact that she has all that dark ancient magic tricks but she isn't able to make herself look "prettier" ╮(￣▽￣")╭... but I don't know, she should just use her "powers" to become the actual queen and everybody would be happy with her, why do it so messy!? (≧∀≦) well, I guess that's a villain's way (￣∇￣")

I'm confusing it with another story, the same setting and with a witch too.
The queen is really crazy. Im talking about her motivation. I thought she wants more power for herself, or the throne for her son (or making him a puppet king under her control or something). That i can understand. But her obssession with the late queen is so weird lol
