At this point, I think the translators are doing this on purpose. I heard from a friend that supposedly some translators are purposefully labeling characters who appear to be overly masculine or feminine (counter to their base gender) as trans, and thus using the respective trans pronoun. While I personally don’t have an issue with trans people, the fact that the original authors are becoming greatly offended that their work is being purposefully mistranslated is a problem.

Like I said, nothing wrong with being trans and being supportive of trans rights. However, to me, it doesn’t send the right message to promote their rights, by disrespecting someone else’s work. After all, there are overlying masculine women who still identify as women and there are overly feminine men who identify as men; not everyone who acts counter to their gender is trans.

I didn’t even realize this, but i’ll be pissed off if the translators are doing that purposefully. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they are confused about the representation of gender-nonconforming characters, and that maybe their interpretation is just way off. But I really couldn’t believe it if they’re purposefully disrespecting the author’s work like this. It’s offensive, and it’s the translators’ responsibility to deliver translations as accurately as possible. Seriously

I was surprised too when my friend told me.

The only reason why I can believe it with this one is because the FL is clearly a girl, despite her boisterous personality, and yet chapter after chapter lately, they keep using “Mr.” and “he/him”, even though the rest of the translation is pretty clear (compared to other translations where this happens and the rest of the translation is all over the place).

I would like to give the benefit of the doubt, but it’s hard with this one. I pray I’m wrong.

I hope this messy translation doesn’t have anything to do with that purposefully incorrect labeling. Maybe the translators are just lazy. There’s a possibility that the dialogue is just machine-translated, and they don’t do quality checks, OR they just won’t bother to fix the errors even if they do understand english grammar & the proper usage of pronouns. In some scenes, maybe they got confused because our FL was being called “Sir”. It’s typically used in a masculine way but female knights can be called sir too.

That’s an understandable mistake, but at this rate, the dialogue will become unreadable. I just hope it gets better since there are a lot of people who enjoy the story and our FL’s humor.

I really hopd it gets better as well, as I just think the translator just being lazy by using machine translate and didn't proof read, hope so?

Please can we be careful about spreading such rumours? The trans community is particularly marginalised and facing a lot of misinformation, hatred and fearmongering.

Not accusing you or your friend of doing so, but sometimes unconscious bias can really negatively effect the connections we think we're noticing.

I think it's wayyy more likely that the scanlator or uploader is taking the scans and isn't bothered to change the pronouns.

Also, it could be the OG pronoun in the original language requires an added step in the translation process, which is one step too many for the translator.

As you noted it doesn't help trans rights and would be a lot of extra work for the scanlator to deliberately change each pronoun.
