The characters are “trapped” in the main story flow basically, difficult to have their own critical thinking. They are being brainwashed by the author of the book
Ah yeah I mean I get that they’re brainwashed… Just that the mom suddenly realized Edith exists unlike the dad. So I thought there were some condition or something… Or the dad is just slow
It’s a bit of a spoiler but that is cause the more important the character the more control the author has. The mom is a minor character in the book, therefore more likely to think for herself
So what’s the condition for the parents? Like the mom only remembers her when she sees her or something?
