That man has serious anger issues rather than awkwardness he would be so angry and in denial over whatever these feelings are and would take it out on poor dan. At least that's what I can interpret based on his character.
That is what I was thinking. What would happen if or when he is finally injured? He would still be a sack-of-crap for a while, but change during his "healing" process.

I think he’s going to see the hickeys he put on Dan’s neck, and will likely be going through some sort of turmoil such as the kind Dan is going through. And then they’re going to go through a period of awkwardness and miscommunication. I haven’t thought about after that but I have thought about when it’s going to happen that JY doesn’t win a fight after his ritual sex. Or if he’s going to get very badly hurt and Dan has to nurse him back to health and then we a get redemption arc.
