? I thought he meant that he wasn't gonna live a life solely for the sake of getting revenge hence his ending determination to defeating the Madame (aka a sidequest unrelated to his revenge although it made him stronger)
That was a metaphor. He meant not to be led to still act just like a bloodhound as he were in the past, now solely because of wanting revenge. He still wants revenge but now with clarity of mind that it's not the only thing that should give him purpose.
