+ Luca known Rudiger for longer. I guess I expect Luca to understand Rudiger is not someone who’ll easily say things like love (at least in his 1st life) but more of a sense of responsibility…
I mean if someone said I’m only their duty and died for me I’m forever grateful but Idk I’m duing to know maybe there’s other reason Luca can immediately nice to her aunt & resent rudiger so much
That’s not it, I understand why Luca is acting like that, I think Luca really did love rudiger and that’s exactly why he doesn’t want to get attached to him in this life and he doesn’t want his aunt to get attached either because Luca thinks Rudiger is gonna die and he doesn’t want her to get hurt or have ti relive it himself, but honestly Luca is just being dense idk why he still thinks after everything that has changed and happened that the one thing that’ll stay the same is Rudigers death but idk maybe he’s just traumatized by it
Of course he’s traumatized. This kid lived in an abusive household for so long. Once he was able to escape, he spent (iirc) years trying to get Ruediger’s affection, only for the sole parental figure that ever actually cared for him to go off and die out of (implied) sense of duty and not love. Judging from the text when that young princess (the one who couldn’t socialize with anyone until him due to palace rules), he had a very difficult life after.
Even if he can see the differences between the lives, it doesn’t change the fact that Ruediger is ultimately the same person as in the last life (Luca can’t see the character development or anything that happens in scenes involving only ML and MC) and that there were events that still happened like in the previous life (the assassination attempt on the train, Ruediger taking Luca away, etc.). The causes of the assassination haven’t been removed either (political shenanigans involving Winterwald that probably haven’t been fully explained yet, idr if they have), so there’s still a chance for Ruediger to meet the same end as before.
Genuine Q
Soooooooo in the 1st life Rudiger died protecting Luca, said it’s not because of love but his duty, and Luca resent him for that?
That’s sad & I guess Luca feel betrayed. But sometimes I dont understand why he readily accept his aunt’s changes yet don’t want anything to do with Rudiger(I mean he’s proven to be useful & gave him protection in the 1st life, can’t he at least be nice to him cuz they’re allies? Or push him away so he doesn’t have to protect Luca? Instead he’s immediately nicer to Judith who was proven again & again betrayed him in the 1st life)
Idk, with Luca being mature & grown up I guess I thought he can understand that Rudiger doesn’t have to protect him in the 1st life but at least he did, so what makes him hate Rudiger so? Is it simply the deeper the trust (Luca thought Rudiger Loved him) the more betrayed he feel? Or is there any hidden reason??
