was he really drunk? or just pretending?

Either interpretation is plausible at this point. We need more chapters. I would tell you he is not sober due to his eyes and it is possible for some to get drunk on that cup he gulped down. It was not a shot glass.

But is he drunk or tipsy and pretending to be worse, we need more chapters.
