i still don't get

I kind of understand him...Let's say that you have a friend of the opposite sex or same sex- which ever you want- and you hang out almost ever day, you learn to treasure that person and you start to not only respect them but appreciate them, and suddenly you meet one of his/her friends and they say " oh he/she is the girl/guy that confessed to you right". It's like that person said "ohh he/she likes me and that's why I am hanging out with him/her, but it's not like I like them". Plus in the manga at the beginning he didn't know that he told his friend at the beginning of everything. And even if he did explain that he said it before, the damage is done and you feel like shit. Not only that he didn't clarify with his friends that it wasn't like that it has been a long time since then. Sorry long post but I hope it's clear in my explanation.

Thanks for the explantion, but I still have the feeling,that he is overreacting, cauese they don't knew each other for that long. And I think it would hurt more to know, that somebody just meets with you for money than if he meets with you because your are in love with him, but apparently he doesn't have a problem with that...
