I agree about how Riftan’s pov is important, but she shouldn’t have to give her whole life story to earn respect. She made it clear to him that she is interested in learning about healing magic so in this instance she’s communicated better imo. And I think it’s good that he wanted to talk, but he should’ve lead with an apology rather than just confronting her with “we need to talk”. Apologizing first and then getting deeper into it would be a lot less confrontational on his part. She definitely should’ve told him she needed space though instead of just ignoring him.
yes he did wrong by comparing them. he himself realized he messed up & that's not what he meant. he did try talking to her that same day to fix things but she wasn't listening. he's intentions are good, its Maxi that has to explain herself to him (how she really grew up or express how she wants to help more). to him she was the most cherished daughter of the duke that was kept away for her "safety". He believes she was spoiled & taken care of her life. He is trying to spoil his wife, he came from a poor background. He has his own insecurities, probably feeling he will never be good enough for her. He probably thinks she's to kind & feels bad so she needs to help since they don't have other wizards
