This gonna be rude. Is Anya a human being or manmade or something? I think Bond and Anya came from the same place or same organization.

Anya was experimented on, just like Bond. Thatțs how she got her powers, tho itțs not clear to me exactly where the organisation comes from.It must be the reason why she is good at language studies. Before she arrived at the orphanage where Twilight took her from, she must have spoken some other language. I want her backstory so bad.....

And with Desmond's brother's appearance, something tells me he might either be the reason why those experiments were carried out or the family may have paid to use the successes from the study. I think he knew someone was trying to read his mind and he let it happen as a means to figure out who.
I mean, Anya technically can't control it as her powers can fizzle out and she can't pick out who would have the right answers. Plus, she's still very young. But having a power like that in a crowd when you can't turn it off would be debilitating. Then, when you could control it, it would be depressing to know how some people actually feel, especially about you. I guarantee their dad only sees them as pawns and Anya lucked out that her chosen parents are nice people (though she's going to throw a fit when Twilight tries to leave.)
As for Anya's high language score, they were trying to get her to read minds. She needed to understand language as fast as possible for that skill to be useful. And the scientists weren't going to be talking to each other or thinking in terms easy for a little girl to understand the meaning. That was likely the only education she received.
