He's still hurt from the last fight. It just that the pace is too slow. So it take forever to jump to his recovery
He's not useless, he can be used as
- bad example (do I want to take over the world, or do I just stalk my knight?)
- rear fog light (and you won't believe how much his blushing cuts heating costs)
- furry bait (am I a dragon? a kitten? find out in the next episode!)
- wig donor (transformation = long hair, recovery period, transformation = long hair)

All these baby talk aside, why is recently Ignis such a useless person. He can weild dark magic & is Empress' enemy , all very capable of defeating her but he's just moping around & wasting chapters. Get out of bed & work on something you bum
