With Penelope, you could really feel her anger, frustration and deep helplessness. I can't place why this can't convey the same yet but it's feeling is more shallow. Ofc first impressions can change so I'll give it a try but without good writing, this premise is hard to pull off. A lot of "villainess" novels are pretty bad lately. They're just riding the trend.
this actually was such a perfect way to put it. The feelings aren't real, I dont feel her resentment for her bio family or the family she designed after them. She has no true drive either
