I agree that most big titles are garbage (besides ks which as you said isn't a bl, even the author was disgusted when she found out people phrased it as a bl).
Authors know what sells, which is pwp and pretty characters. Why would they spend months making an amazing story when the story can be r*pe and s*x, but the twist is, the characters has some sad back story (as expected) thats all they can come up with. Speaking of jinx again, its literally a cash grab with pretty mcs, literal basic character designs, seme- strong, cool , popular, handsome. Uke- powerless, crybabay, poor, cute.
Plus 40+ chapters with 30+ r*pe scenes and no character development, its very easy to see that there is no story to be had and that its just pwp cash grap with nice faces.
Lmao most of the manhwa you said up there pretty much the ones I've been putting down or stopped reading. One thing about bl tropes that's been there since waaaaaaayyyy back is rape (even from hagio moto!) and that's been selling like hotcakes. There's no way to avoid it completely. ;w;

Ikr!! Most of the popular bls have almost the same plot and it's so annoying . I am not saying Jinx is a bad manhwa (it is) but like the plotline is so fucking basic that it hurts to see it trending everywhere except those which actually have a good plotline :/
Exactly!! Most of the peoples arguments is that "rape makes it spicy because it has more drama" OKAY??? AND?? There can be rape as a plot without making it om between the fucking couple??? Because if we talk about popularity wise the ones mainly popular I see are Jinx, Pearl boy, Painter of the night, Roses and champagne,Limited run, bj alex and killing stalking which isn’t even a bl/ yaoi?????? But okay ig…now I barely see shutline but it IS popular to an extent and oh yeah under the green light.. which i barely see but issok it has recognition.

You all have categorised this genre of fiction so much that every time I go to #bl tag or #yaoi tag I only see the ones with rape which have proper views or a shit ton of fucking… and yeah.. obviously these authors have worked hard they have put a lot of thought into creating a story and worked their asses off.. but what about the underrated artists? The authors of the most popular ones have got their recognition but what about the underrated ones??? THEY BARELY GET RECOGNISED. We live in such a generation that if a book doesn’t contain smut or porn people won’t read it.. and not only the manga readers but also novel readers. Novels, mangas, manhwas, manhuas have basically become porn consumption at this point.. its like ‘plot ho na ho porn zarur rahega’ (there might be no plot but there definitely is porn.. idk how it would look good in english so yeah.) AND ITS SAD AND CONCERNING. Because there are so many deserving ones like haruka tookie le, the beast must die, who can define popularity, our sunny days (i wont say it’s underrated but yeah), 10 years where I loved you the most (not that underrated but still needs more recognition), the promise AND MANY MORE. Even those artists put their hard work in it and creativity but there results are not as much. Obviously there is nothing wrong with people reading such stories to each their own.. but.. come on..they deserve the recognition for their immaculate work okay… and I am glad for these edits because there ARE good ones like ‘payback’ and…. ‘Payback’… well idrk any other ones i enjoyed so… and yeah shutline. (I havent read under the green light)
I think its high time we stopped categorising this genre of fiction and expanded it more because if this continues to happen there might be a time where this whole genre is 99% filled with porn and 1% plot and it will have barely any mangas which have a good plot. Yes i know people like reading these porn… but we should also give chances to these authors who create immaculate art and storyline.
(Love insta for atleast having Tian guan ci fu and the other story by the same author in the #bl/#yaoi tags with proper views because they def deserve it)
