i think the brainwashing is more of an amplification of desires they already had?? thats my interpretation,, like yea the goddess of love coerced them for sure but i think they were all kinda twisted to begin with but the goddess meddling with their minds left no possibility for them to improve their behavior (cause she only encouraged their obsessive and dark traits)
true, thats where i have my doubts too ngl lol,, i guess with the saintess specifically rather than amplify dark traits she already had its more of just a kid following a really bad role model and being heavily misguided in their upbringing like the kids from the slaughter village or the children of the cannibalistic general
It certainly is a twist that the goddess of love was behind the majority of Raoul's suffering, but I'm not sure if I like it. The saintess and the princess were set up as such easily hateable characters, so it was fun to cheer when they got their just desserts. To find out that they were controlled and brainwashed and maybe not at fault at all takes away from the satisfying feeling of revenge and now I just feel kind of bad for them. And feeling bad for the perpetrators is not what I really look for in a revenge story.
