I love true crime docs and watching Law&Order-Special Victims Unit. This manga is like if you took inspiration from the basic format of SVU and wanted to delve deeper into what it would be like to make something more raw and twisted. I’m sure many readers see this manga as nothing but sick torture hentai, art is subjective, they way the observer/consumer perceives a piece of media is what that piece will mean to them. In my perspective, this is like walking through an art gallery made from the worst secrets humanity has. These specific cases may be fictional but make no mistake, people who have gone through these tortures exist, people who have preyed on others this way exist, detectives with morbid curiosity slither into the profession. These things are not just conjured up in the mind of a pervert, these fantasies and fictional accounts are validated by monsters in our actual society. Personally I indulge in media like this because I hate the unknown. I get anxious knowing that as I walk around, I’ll never truly know what is happening behind closed doors, or what evil the stranger across the way might be up to. Learning about how horrible life can be, knowing how awful life has been for some on this earth and figuring out how to see the little signs that someone may be a dangerous person brings me the closest to being comfortable as I think I can be. Ignorance is not bliss to me, ignorance is death. Even if the knowledge is difficult to stomach, I’d rather know than not know.
