Yes I'm serious. I'm not just talking abt the uploader in this story, in other stories I've read in mangago there was also someone who did the placeholder thing. Quality > speed, at least for me. And before someone says it, I'm not being ungrateful. We're all parasites here, don't pretend to have the higher moral ground. I just don't understand the purpose of the placeholder aside from wanting to declare possessiveness that only they can upload. If anyone can explain to me how useful a placeholder chapter is, I'll gladly listen. I may not change my mind about how annoying it is to get a notif of it though.
I get what you mean, but it does serve a purpose. Unfortunately in the past 2 years or so, bots have taken to uploading shit translations without showing that they're not officials or done by a good scanlation team. And what those bots do is upload over and over and over again, sending out multiple notifications to subscribers
They will literally take the chapter the uploaded down just to upload it back up with the same crap quality. That is far more annoying than a single placeholder by the team uploading officials or good scans.
Oh wow, there are bots now? I suppose they're the ones uploading the mtl ones when it's anonymous? In that case, I can see why the placeholder makes sense. But I don't think I've noticed the instance you said where the bots take down the chapter in better quality uploaded by a user, then the bot reuploads that chapter but in shit quality, if I understood what you said correctly. I usually just see 2-3 kinds of chapter uploaded, one that's kinda crappy, one in better quality from a scanlation, and one that's official. Is what you said that common? It may just not happen to the ones I'm reading ig. I still find placeholder chapters annoying, but I understand its purpose with the context you provided. I think you misunderstood one thing: bots don't take down other uploaders' chapters. I meant the bots take down the chapter they just uploaded and then re-upload the same chapter, giving multiple notifications for the same crap chapter. Lol

I hate the freaking placeholder. Who tf made that a thing? Its purpose is apparently to let people know not to upload over them, but why does it even matter? Just upload yours regardless of anyone uploading over you. If the version you uploaded is higher quality, people will still read it. I know I would wait for a better version over a shitty mtl one. The notif that comes with the placeholder is so annoying. You think it's a new chapter, but nope, it's a damn placeholder.
