Erf this is awkward

Uke is weak. His father leaves him a company, LITERALLY A GUARANTEED JOB. From the perspective of a college junior, this is as good as it gets. "Normal life" means debt, working long hours in an unsecure job, needing to get an internship before an actual job offer, interviews, a lot of soul-searching.

I can't stomach it. He has life set before him and he wants to throw it away because he can't be bothered to work hard to settle conflicts of interest.

Well he never seemed interested in the job to begin with so choosing his own path in life and working hard for his own dreams was more important. It's not like he can't be bothered to work hard. He didn't chose the easy way for himself, so he is actually working very hard for his own happiness.

I'm sad that we didn't get to see the uke develop much...
