No, you're right. He already knows a bit about her trauma, but he probably didn't think that this situation would make it surface seeing as he was surprised after that happened. He also didn't see her reaction to all the dead bodies, so he has no reason to think she'd have a reaction like that to people being killed. We also have to factor his past life into how he might assess these kinds of situations. I would have had her close her eyes though, just in case. There is also the possibility that closing her eyes could affect maintaining the aura, and I don't know if that will be addressed ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ there are just a lot of factors.
