I would also like to add that if Dan showed a little bit apprehensive in his feels and thoughts. Like "This is only a physical relationship I shouldn't be falling in love with him this will go nowhere". Instead we get, " Oh he's a bit bad temper, oh well, guess I'm in love now <3." People would be a lot less frustrated.

I would understand Dan being this delusional if there was even a little bit of ambiguous feelings between them but there's none tho whats so ever. Dan is meant to be a 29 year old man whose whole life is full of hardships, one would expect that he knows how the real world works but instead he's just a slow naive boy. Seeing how shocked and dismayed he was in the last panel makes me think that he really did think them two had something going on.
