I don't think Dan will realize it, he's written to be docile and has Stockholm syndrome, I love him but It's a shame that he can't even be warned due to being delusional about JK, his first reacting was to defend him after all.

same, a good direction for the story would be if Dan gets away from JK and afterwards JK realizes how much of an ass he's been and they make up (with him begging for forgiveness before Dan).
