Yes, it was just thrown in there to somehow "explain" Cain's background and his ties with the MC in the story but it was so poorly done that it raises far more questions than the plot hole it is supposed to close. Sloppy writing for me as it was Yahwi's banal childhood encounter with the MC. Overall the final result is that it seems like there is no plot and the story is developed by a nverending series of addendum to what was the initial idea.
