In this situation it's frustrating, but speaking from personal experience I am far more in love with my current partner ((we just had our 4 year anniversary)) than I ever was with the first person I thought I was in love with.
Shit still hurt 'cause I was led around by the guy for over a decade, but after a lil bit of introspection when I cut contact with him I realized I had basically rose-tinted glasses our entire time together lol
My current partner tho?? If anything ever happened to force us apart I would literally set myself on fire in the middle of an interstate highway.
ur life is prime example that theres first love but then real soulmates! i think irl first love never really lasts but ppl romanticize it so much that now when i read stories i find myself rooting more first love when i shouldnt yk

Finished reading the raws and GRRRRRR. This is why I kinda hate first love tropes esp when the main characters arent each others first love bc they struggle sm to get over themm. I know its realistic and thats why i still read it but it does something to my brain where i keep thinking they still dont love each other up to that first love level when my heart says they do but my brain says they dont. reading about first love not being endgame is like drinking a full vodka shot
