Imo, his actions are done coz he was a priest before. Don't priests not loathe sinners? Instead they give support and guidance to lead the wrong to the right. Ik its an excuse but 15yrs in prison might've tweaked smth in his morality, that's why some of his actions are contradicting. As a priest, you shouldn't give into lust, fhat's what you are taught yet he gave himself away for the children's protection. Contradicting yet intriguing for me
