I like how to author make the stories more interesting and natural, for me the behavior of the mc are natural some person plus the mc have he's own problem or truma. I sympathize the dead person since it's hard to be a gay person in a society like this and he have no friends to turn to( I think).
Now about the mc and ml (or the dead person crush), I won't say a word about it since we don't know how things would go between them but if things like cheating going to happen in this story the I would drop this immediately.
