Cole suggests that they should break up since he thinks that the only way to keep Alex around is by threatening him that he will shoot Alex. And Alex accepts it and break up with him.
The time goes on and Cole goes on a job interview and on the way back goes to a bar and meets that girl from the beach. After talking with her he finds out that she did not sleep with Alex. Alex is more deeply in love with Cole than what Cole actually thinks of him (Alex is weak against Cole's eyes especially his crying eyes it seems). And also the girl was aiming for Cole and not Alex in the first place (lol)
