I really agree with your opinion. I'm also confused about why most manga plots are like this. Is the culture really that free there? An adult woman who is like a bitch who leaves someone but comes back as she pleases. and the romance between teacher and student wouldn't be very awkward. Maybe if the student has graduated or gone to college it's still better. but if they were in a relationship when the student was still underage it would be very awkward.
