If i remember correctly, the reason why she hid her identity is because she's the only living heir of a territory he now currently owns. When her appearance is known. That means the people of that territory will want her to be their queen instead of the prince which would cause a revolution. In turn, the prince would have to kill her or marry her but our FL doesnt know that since he did just straight up kill all her family members. So id say its pretty understandable. It wouldnt be just the prince too. Some members of high society would probably banish her or assinate her.
I love a good slow burn but this is literally just beating around the bush. It's not a slow burn!! Plus why doesn't she just confess already to the prince? Isn't the guilt of hiding such a great secret from someone who loves you so much, big enough to want to confess. Moreover she already got his promise that he will forgive her once.
