Start by greeting them everytime you see them, ask how they are or how their day went. When talking to him keep the conversation light and ask open end questions so it doesn't feel like you're interrogating him.
Now when you feel like you both are getting comfortable give him a complementary nickname. You mentioned you both like genuine? Tell him you're interested in playing with him. Invite him to play with you.
