I KNOW....! this entire time reading it, I've been wishing they would just use "Hyung" and NOT "brother" !!! it has a completely different connotation and is really weird !:sob

It took me so long to realize that when he says brother, he probably means it as an honorific like hyung. I felt off about it at first because it felt weird to root for them when they refer to themselves as literal brothers, but hyung makes much more sense
