it's sad because 99% of yaoi mangas are based on fantasy and fetishizing since the very beginning. so most of the authors couldn't care less about lgbt+ community or whatever. they just want to sell and profit from them.
but fortunately this community improved a lot. I mean, 5y ago I don't remember seeing anyone complaining about SA in the stories, so I guess at least we're getting better

Oh absolutely true! And its nice that its improving. I do remember being the only one out of my friends asking these questions back in the day and them kinda just dismissing it into fantasy. But the thing is, its a story and we can get bit infested in it because its not just a smutty one scene of p*rn. It's multiple chapters and othering rest of the gays that appear in the plot into goons and r*pists just makes me feel like the author do not see real life gay men as humans :(

I wouldn't be surprised if we discovered that most of them just see being gay as a kink or maybe even as a some mental problem, really.
Another terrible plot the authors used to love back then was "I became gay after a bad experience with a woman in my life"

Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not the only one who feels this!
