thanks for the reply
I get that, (why I said "as impossible as it even sounds")
I just wish the author didn't, like, take literally any chance to draw Geom being r*ped and draw it so detailed, making him look all "aesthetically" broken as he moans.. fills me with disgust
Like, for instance, when Geom was being SA'd (mind you, I only got to chap 18 and haven't read further so lmk if I'm wrong), you got all the shots you do in regular smut, and when it was implied that he bled or something, you hardly saw the wound... why does the author value the penetration (ie the more "attractive" shots that are often displayed in BL) than the brutal pain that comes with it? Don't tell me about censorship and whatnot, if they can draw heavy smut, they can draw some blood and wounds, heaven knows the author doesn't care to drop trigger warnings either way
Also, I know that he staggers sometimes, and cries a lot
Obviously, I can just choose not to read it, but I feel like this kind of this is important to talk about
You don't wanna keep reading this lmao. I forgot which chapters but Geom's backstory was actually torture to read. The rape scenes just kept going. Every new chapter was another graphic display of Geom being raped or beaten. I was seriously concerned over the amount of time the artist must've spent drawing brutal rape scenes. Shouldn't they be sick of it by now?? We really don't need so many rape scenes drawn in graphic detail.
But you'll see Geom in anguish for sure. It was especially tough to get through because of how much you could see him suffering. I thought that I wouldn't be able to survive what he went through. I don't know how someone keeps their sanity after all that.
It's to hit home the cruelty of sexual slavery, and the confluence of high society and the criminal underworld. And just how blasé rape and sex slavery are to those who will do anything to have power.
Maybe it's too much for some readers to handle, but the author thinks it's appropriate to show just how cruelly he was treated, and the bullshit that he has to endure, and how his original anger eventually faded into apathy and despair.
After rereading your reply, no offense, but I don't think you got my point?
Part of my point was that the story wasn't showing how cruelly he was being treated by avoiding the wounds and blood, and continuously choosing to maintain his pretty, broken image
Geom is typically the main perspective, but we are only shown rape that comes with pretty highlights and submissive poses, tearing him down to his core, while making sure to point out the dick sliding in shot, and then him being left there like a used toy. Thus, I can accept that this is in the perspective of the assaulters and meant to depict part of the cruelty that comes with being in his situation
However, once alone, the story reverts back to his point of view. As a result, shouldn't it show the blood, the cuts, the UGLY crying, the moments alone where he idolizes suicide or something, the things no one wants to see because of how painful it is, now that he's not in the tangible grip of his captors? (again, I have read to only chap 18)
My whole point was that the reader is shown these awful moments, that, to me, almost feel like its romanticizing his pain by doing what all toxic BL does, which is minimizing the mc to a pretty, broken doll whose constantly raped to feel like he's worth nothing. I get that that's the whole point of this story, I get that he's a sex slave, being torn down, and being forced to accept the feelings of despair by not being able to run away, but, with how resilient he's been, shouldn't he be shown, by the author, that he is more than just that?
The author controls what's put in the story, they can easily add more painful, personal, moments, instead of opting for another sex scene that adds nothing to the story that most people would just prefer to skip because the message, about how awful rich, higher ups in the criminal underworld are, has already been established?
Maybe I'm just media-illiterate and too blind to see the underlying message, maybe I'm just too stubborn. sorry for writing an essay.
btw not attacking or trying to make you feel like I'm conceited or something, just replying with my opinion :(
bruh as "well written" this story is, or whatever, the author still heavily sexualizes Geom during the SA... Like, I want to see some grimaces, ugly contortions, subconsciously fighting back (ik it's been happening for years and he's used to it, but it's still... so, too, "well-drawn," and made him look all pretty and rendered with highlights and good lighting and whatnot),
I can't just read this story, watching a broken mc, not even be treated with respect by its own creator, the author
call me vanilla, tell me that people can read whatever they want, etc etc, still, this kind of shit is hard to read and, frankly, so lengthened for no reason...
I got to chap 18 and the whole time I was just screaming for Geom to just run away to another country or literally anythingggg, as impossible as it even sounds, obviously
