The joke was that heechan said “Splitting bears” (which is not a phrase) instead of “splitting hairs”(which is) but they sound similar so he got them mixed up. To “split hairs” means to make unnecessary distinctions. A better way of saying it is: making criticisms of something minor and unimportant. Being unnecessarily critical, to split hairs. I think because a strand of hair is so thin, to split it would be still be small and not worth it?
