I actually wonder the same thing. I was thinking.. The king have Grand Duke and the heroes right?
So maybe the more he build relationships and trust with them, the stronger they will be? We did saw the King give buff to the heroes when they were attacked previously and they become stronger.
But then I have a lot of questions regarding the Grand Duke's behaviour if this was the case. It does looks like the Grand Duke to some extent, 'trust' the King? But well, their relationship isn't exactly that... So instead of trust, does the strength of empire based on the subjects love to their King?

That's cus ya'll did, all of the plot and story, even characterization is in the novel, the manwha is all cut up and rearranged, it completely fucked up the story.

It's not even just the 41 kings, there's way more than that, both actually got along well but well, some intervention happened and shit got all fucked up; their relationship was ruined.

I don’t care that he had trust issues cause of the 41 kings before mc, that does not excuse all the manipulation he did and still does, I honestly hope mc wouldn’t end up with him. Another thing that still bothers me is that the story doesn’t seem to walk forward, it’s like I’m crawling to get a bit of information about the past. Like if everyone already liked mc, why the fuck did ML kill him 3 times? Also did mc know that now that it wasn’t beta test anymore he would go inside de game for real? Do these people know they’re from a game? When he disappeared what did it mean by they stood still? Did it mean they froze cause mc closed the game? Also if mc was able to get first ranked by simply corrupting their race why didn’t the other kings do that before? If he was able to get first rank why the fuck is he so weak mentally and physically? Urgh I’m not enjoying this at all
