They were literally being helpful from an outsider’s perspective, Ryu didn’t tell them he actually had feeling for Sawa. So they assumed he was too scared to get the wrath from the seme so they instead decided to take accountability plus all the blame so the uke wouldn’t be in trouble.
I get that but I feel that the twins could have talked about what to do with Ryu first before confronting Sawa about it being a prank THEN when they decide what to do they could take the blame for what happens if they found out Ryu didn't want part of their prank anymore
They tried, and he screamed he couldn’t tell the truth then hung up. Any concerned friend would try to help their friend out of a bad situation, to them it’s a prank gone wrong. If he would just say “yeah I only did the prank because I actually liked him” then it’d be no misunderstanding, he literally left them in the dark which is why they did it for him. They called Ryu soon after and you can literally see the panel where they misunderstood his reaction to the date in chapter 3, they thought he was dreading it.
