Be fr, not only does he do it all for himself in the end, it's his coping mechanism. As soon as even a little general human attention steers away from him he feels immense anxiety WHICH IS NOT NORMAL EVEN FOR SOMEONE WHO MAY NEED A LITTLE MORE ATTENTION THAN OTHERS. + Also what Anonymous helped sum it up as. Hermes could have deciphered 20% even 40% to figure the achilles part out, but he ended up deciphering like 70-90% before speaking up when it was already obvious for a while that achilles was worried about a relationahip with someone who probably wasn't like him...
