Heroine's story is tragic but this happens to many of us. The realization that the parent that abuses you either mentally or physically or both is also taking care of you and they are doing their best to support you. Its so cruel because you can't just see them as a bad person and blame them for everything. Yes, they are responsible for your suffering and for bringing you into the world but good deeds can't be easily forgotten. Those small acts of love that hurt so much after the suffering... Growing up into adulthood is realizing people are complex like that. Even the best people have bad flaws. And at one point you have to come to terms with the hate and love you feel for that person. Running away from the complex feelings can work but peace lies in acceptance.
Oh noooo. I didn't mean to make you sad!! But I am glad it resonated with you... I had really hard time dealing with my feelings back in my teen years but I promise you it gets better with time!!
It seems to resonate with a lot of people and that makes me happy and sad. Happy that people understand what I mean and sad that there are so many people that had less than perfect relationship with their parents.
