I really liked this series. I thought it was well written and felt complete in most aspect---except the harem ending..(=_=)lll They spent the whole series building up the Maou and Yuusha's cute romance and character development and the feelings they have for each other. Every other girl or guy gave up pursuing them, and even the Dragon Queen was telling the Hero to finally man up and go to Maou...and it still ends up like that. It felt like it was building up towards their eternal love just like their predecessors, but ultimately didn't.
I think I could've accepted it if the Female Soldier was likeable, or if Yuusha had liked them both equally, but she never ended up likeable to me even towards the very end, and he was never really in love with her either; she was just persistently there. I can accept that she's a necessary character that's good for the story, but that ending? Meh...
Thanks for the warning. I started this years ago, meant to leave it to marinate and ended up forgetting about it. I was excited to start it again, but if that's the ending, I think I'm good.
