[Spoilers ch38] The whole "racist toward orcs" joke really falls flat when you look at how orcs were conceived originally by Tolkien. Following that up with evil sex demons gives me even more pause.
Be it the same old unexamined tropes that tend to plague this genre, lining up in unfortunate ways, or just some purity obsessed zelot witting this, the "godly" setting of this story can hardly avoid these topics but does not engage with them in any meaningful manner. That is besides that after 300 years the protagonist could become this kind of manic crusader/missionary. However, that train of thought is quickly abandondend in lieu of edgy yelling about faith and a lot of yellow effects.
I know "it's not that deep" and most protagonists of these kinds of story are morally grey, but somehow this story manages to circle back weirdly close to the origins of those tropes, be it intentionally or not. Especially since it goes beyond the usual rightous framing, and adds a religious one. ...And that weirds me out as someone who hasn't had the best experiences with that "framing" irl lmao
9/10 art Conflicted about the rest/10... Actually, no. He's like a polytheistic racist Jesus beaming souls up to heaven. Not the kind of op I was looking for. I'll pass ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
The way he views orcs is so off-putting. The things he keeps saying like "a good orc is a dead orc" is literally reminiscent of what genocidal maniacs like nazis would say

+ i really think this manhwa would still be able to function without it
