When Rintaro said he wasn't some prize to be won, I think both Varuna and Dolga listened.. but Varuna stil accepted the match. I don't think Varuna really expected to lose, and even if he did.. Rin wouldnt have chosen Dolga. He knows that.
I think it was more to comfort Dolga— to make him feel that he atleast tried and that he's strong. And to make Rintaro feel like Varuna valued him.
I don't think they really thought of Rintaro as a prize, but if they did then
i dont like this duel with dolga plot. what if he had lost. would he actually give rintaro to dolga? and rin saying he feeling like he was some prize thats really sad. il in some manga its necessary to have duel to win someone because plot demands of it but i dont think he had to accept it in this one. they reallyyy didnt care about what rin wanted.
