Having read the novel, I'll tell you this:
- he does not get better until pretty much the very end
- he isnt punished in any way for how he behaved (yea he realises he was wrong but hes still arrogant and a temper tantrum baby)
- it gets WAY worse from here

Like for the first couple theres at least a little sweetness and a little genuine selflessness (like i dont exactly like them either but it is better and it feels more satisfying), but here any "selfless" action the dude does just ends up being for himself anyway. It may look like he cares but he still treats people in general as disposable.

But yea i still think both stories are pretty much the same mould, i just like to delusionally ignore the problematic stuff in the first one, but in the second one its first of all - impossible to ignore - and second of all - literally the same shit as before, the same mistakes, maybe even worse.

If I remember correctly atleast the main seme cares about the uke even at first maybe a little. Like he begins being trash coz he thinks he's being betrayed. Correct me if I'm wrong. But this little shit here is pure trash. I just can't. I'm so proud of you guys for reading this manhua. (づ￣ ³￣)づ because I can't. （/TДT)/

Ye i dont wanna misremember but the first couple, the dude didnt even like the mc in the beginning (he fell in love and gradually changed to actually sacrifice for mc) so it was more understandable that he would treat him like that cuz he didnt really care. But here i think it is heavily implied/shown throughout the story that the dude liked him and just continued to treat him like shit and as his property (even when he supposedly changed).

For example and the following is a SPOILER for the novel, but since you are dropping i assume its ok to share. The novel btw is poorly translated so i might be mistaken on details, but the general gist you can get. So at some point (towards the end) the MC is blind and qiyu decides he'll find a slave to give mc eyes but mc ofc says no, so then qiyu gives him his own eyes, but then (from what i understood) he still found a slave whose eyes he then took anyway, so that whole thing was literally pointless. Like it doesnt paint qiyu as someone willing to sacrifice himself at all, he still is self serving...

If it follows the novel it will be awful

More spoilers: Like i think soon there will be the part where blonde gives poisoned peaches to qiyu to give his father as a gift cuz its a better gift than what mc prepared, turns out they were poisoned, but the thing is, qiyu believes blondes lies that mc tried to frame blonde and poison his father (literally makes no sense cuz why would he do that but im guessing qiyu didnt wanna believe it).

And theres also the Pei dude who also turns to be awful at the end (just when Pei and mc sorta become a thing, but not really, mc just agrees to marry cuz hes dying basically and he has lost his memory about qiyu and he also has a mind of a 7-year old by Pei's words if i remember correctly (its cuz of the shit he went thru n stuff) and thats also when hes blind before the time qiyu gives his eyes).

so ye, hes at the brink of death multiple times, is imprisoned, tortured, becomes blind, regresses, actually dies at one point but is revived, you get the picture.

I mean yes im pretty sure, but the way it happens its like "did they really?" cuz the whole time the uke was fighting back (not like strongly, it was sorta like a pride thing i guess and not to give seme what HE wants). And if you want more spoilers:

Cuz like Pei and uke get married if i remember correctly (and pei invited seme him not knowing that uke has been revived (cuz he was sorta dead (cuz uke had been missing, he was held hostage by some dude cuz uke tried to run away from seme, the dude asked to forge some writing to gift Pei, uke does except puts in a sign for pei to see, pei doesnt but seme does, they find him and then seme kidnaps him cuz he didnt want pei to treat him, he wanted to find cure himself so he rode the horse with uke while searching for a plant that has been extinct and uke "dies" but so he doesnt die die he is poisoned by something that will hold him 3 days on the brink of death before dying, sorta like coma, and at that point seme puts him in a jade chamber which kept him alive enough to find a cure and give to him) and seme and pei both were searching for a cure and Pei found it (the extinct plant), just didnt tell seme lolol)) Pei gets jelaous that uke doesnt have feelings for him and even without memory has feelings for seme. Pei hires a dude to hypnotise to love him. Idk what happens but at some point seme kidnaps uke, i dont remember why or what happened (like an attack or something) but uke kept asking to go back to help Pei, when they do uke is hypnotised to stab seme and he lets him, uke feels bad, seme kills pei (btw seme is blind the whole time, he gets his sight after this i think). They get back and uke tries to run away multiple times but guards bring him back (also theres a new "blonde" in town to sabotage but this time seme doesnt listen, but he also hardly sabotages cuz he sees he cant do nothing). Some kind or war is won or something and i guess thats supposed to be happy ending (and btw theres a baby, the baby that uke got while running away, but he was blind so he fell into a ditch and almost died(something like that cuz i dont remember) but there was a dead body of a pregnant woman that was still warm i guess cuz it kept uke warm so he didnt die, so he took that baby).

So in the end seme is literally rewarded for his kidnapping behavior (tho it will make you seem like he didnt hold him hostage cuz he let him run away for guards to bring him back)

What did the uke do to deserve all does suffering? ╥﹏╥ even that Pei is a little messed up in the head. Why?? （/TДT)/ It would be nice if the uke lives happily with just the baby, yeah? (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Yes i can confirm this is true. Even he gave uke his eyes.. he still took it from someone else for himself. So... I don't think it is a sacrifice. Unlike 2nd seme who sacrificed his life for uke.. but they make 2nd ml ending like shit

It would be nice but it seems like its the same recycled story just worse (which seems to be a pattern for those stories that torture uke for no reason and then have them date the main person who was responsible for their torture because that person REALLY likes them suddenly and feels bad for doing bad stuff T^T)

And i mean for pei its probably jelaousy that got to his head plus the fact that he was dying from his disease already (like he gave the found cure to uke). But still, as a writer making literally every love interest for the uke evil just so they have to choose the lesser evil seme is toxic, abusive, fucked up and bad writing imo.

Like i can admit to liking seeing some tropes or personalities of characters sometimes even if the writing is bad and i get milking it and doing it for a second story for the readers that are here for it, but as a writer i could not imagine writing a story like this if i wasnt forced to do it.
