Because what he feel about her according in the book is more likely platonic and sympathy. Phil doesn't give him realization unlike now which is the "I don't exist for someone and I'm free". Basically he just follow whatever his father wanted in the book.
I’m prone to believe it has to do with her attitude change later on she was probably like that as a child she didn’t have the fuck it or anything but it was probably the change around the time she thought the book did change everything between them because of her actions because of her father, because she never cried like that anymore even though her relationship, she didn’t really change it at all when it came to the ML she never had that aggressive change, and probably because in the future she becomes bloody of a child, but because of the king

Why is it looked like he doesn’t give a shit about philomel at the first timeline? I think he changed his behaviour after the changed in philomel, but it seems like i’m wrong…?
