I think in this case the ml like him but the trope of "he hasn't been loved so he doesn't know how to love" is in use. Making him a tsudere ml. And I think the only way he will admit his feelings is when the MC is in danger lol. But let's see

side note: I’m iffy on how I feel about the ml, like if you don’t like him. Don’t lead him on. Also, how hasn’t the mc been scammed for everything he owns.
