Honestly in situations like this, it depends on how best the mother handles the situation. It happened with my 2 year old and a new friend one day and I didn't handle it well and now my bubba has withdrawn into himself and doesn't wanna go to nobody. He's been allowing other kids steal and break his toys. Caught 2 beating him up too so it's really heartbreaking. I tot I was being a good mom by trying to make it seems like it's not a big deal that his toy car broke but I literally broke my love (/TДT)/

Actually your baby might be too young for social interaction (apart from family) considering he's still 2. That happened too with my cousin the first time he went to school. My mom (a preschool teacher) said it's normal and we must not force him at all. His teachers let him be for a year, doing whatever he wants as long as he's staying in the class, he didn't follow the class activities but he also didn't ask to go home. Fortunately at 4 he started having fun with many friends at school.
