Those hands… those kisses… wow. See? It’s so sexy and cute and exciting…
why would other authors think sexual assault is better than this? (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

I’m not against them writing whatever they want, they’re free to do so. But I’m also free to criticize it. Specially when they portray abuse as something normal or “couple goals”.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a horror/psychological bl too. I just don’t like when they make brush off abuse because the seme is hot (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

oh yeah definitely. i criticize them too and i have a bone to pick with works like jinx. but one thing to keep in mind is that authors don't "brush off" abuse, they just put it in because they like writing about it. it would be brushing off if the work and its themes are meant to be taken seriously, that's when authors have to be mindful of how they handle sensitive subjects. but porn is just porn. i love that the discussion of prevalent abuse is in fiction is being had these days. but kinks and everything else you like in fiction are morally neutral, and the author doesn't have to teach intro to healthy relationships 101 whenever they write porn.

I can see where you’re coming from, and somewhat agree with you.
There’s all kinds of kinks and works reflect that. And that’s totally fine.
Unfortunately a lot of them aren’t just that. And let’s not forget, BL is a romance genre, not exactly porn. BL is meant to portray a gay romance. Yes, the authors dont have to teach about healthy relationships, but they shouldn’t portray an unhealthy one like a healthy one - that’s my main issue.
They can portray whatever they want, just treat it and call it what it is. There’s a lot of works that do so and are awesome. Because in reality relationships aren’t perfect either.
But normalization of violence/abuse isn’t good in any way. When they don’t treat things as they should, they normalize those behaviors.

For example: bdsm - might have violence (even a rape kink) - but if there’s consent from both parties, it’s awesome and there’s good BL about it. But then you have other BLs where there’s no consent and violence and they use bdsm as an excuse for that behavior (clearly not understanding the concept of bdsm in the first place anyway) - for someone with some experience might be easy to detect the difference but for young people might not, leaving an erroneous idea on them.

Also, from what I’ve seen, when authors like to write about abuse, they do it well. They do their research on it. They don’t just go and make a rapey BL. There’s more to it, you know what I mean? In most the abuse happens just to make it edgy or out of some stupid stereotype, and then the characters fall in love like the abuse never happened. That’s what I mean by brushed off.

don't be sorry!! i get what you mean and i agree. the abuse i see in bl tend to occur in explicit work meant for adults who can process what they read better, which is why i don't have much of an issue with them. young people do read yaoi and are impacted by it, but imo they're not supposed to read it in the first place so whatever they get from it isn't the author's fault. it's like ignoring the R rated warning and watching saw, then wondering why you get nightmares afterwards. but i have been seeing a shift toward more realistic depictions of abuse vs healthy relationships in romance in general lately, which is great news. the toxic possessive trope is tired and needs an upgrade lmao
