Welp, mtl was super wonky so I'm really not sure. But cp gave yooyoung a sword and i think that was supposed to be used to kill somebody.
He told him to kill the general or leave the palace, not for Yoo to kill himself according to the novel. Because he had a jealousy fit after seeing him with the general.

No, Yoo would never do such thing and the prince knew that, he just said so as a way to vent his anger on Yoo since the prince was planning on both: killing off the general and keeping Yoo by his side when he said that.
