I believe the adoption was never fully finalized before the death of the king. Also, a political adoption doesn't fully work that way. It's kind of like a half adoption. Everyone knows it to mean "My kid is worthless, this one over here is gonna be my heir instead", so getting married is not seen as siblings towing the knot, but a simple political marriage amongst nobles for status.
